Business of Acting Training Opportunities in Seattle!

Hey gang,

URGENT: I need your help with some really cool SAG Foundation programming in Seattle and an awesome seminar at my theater. This note is for all Actors. If you can attend it is important in order to continue more FREE SAG Foundation programming in the NW. Next weekend is going to be some great training in the business of acting. And after watching thousands of actors audition over the years, trust me, we can all use this training.

Next week the amazing and inspiring Bonnie Gillespie is visiting Seattle and Portland for the first time ever. If you don’t know who Bonnie is, let me point you to one of the most important books you will find on the business of acting, Self Management For Actors, written By Bonnie. I read it when I was at Cornish circa 1999. And I’ve been an avid reader of her columns in Backstage and on Actors Access. Bonnie is legit! Not only is she an author, but she is an actor, producer and casting director. She has been a longtime favorite SAG Foundation guest in LA, NY and Chicago. It is a BIG deal that she is actually coming to Seattle. http://cricketfeet.com/smfa/

She is doing three days of events in Seattle. On Thursday, September 13 at 7:30pm is Branding For Actors. This event is open to guests of SAG-AFTRA and AEA members. If you know a SAG-AFTRA or AEA Member that is attending, and you are a pre-union actor, ask them to bring you as a guest! Someone can be my guest! This event is sponsored by the SAG Foundation at TPS. Get your SAG-AFTRA and/or AEA colleagues to RSVP here: http://www.sagfoundation.org/userhome/eventdetails/9487

On Friday night, September 14 at TPS, SAG Foundation is presenting two events for SAG-AFTRA and/or AEA Members only. These are called Casting Access Project (CAP). Sorry but no pre-union guests allowed for these. And though these events are staggered in start times, you can only attend one or the other and both have limited class size.

The first event starts at 7pm and is a CAP with the outstanding Stephen Salamunovich! RSVP here: http://www.sagfoundation.org/userhome/eventdetails/9490

At 7:30pm Bonnie is back with a CAP. RSVP here: http://www.sagfoundation.org/userhome/eventdetails/9491

On Saturday from 9am-5pm Bonnie has rented my theater to do her 8 hour Self Management For Actors seminar on the Business of Acting. This is open to all Actors! The cost is $297 for the whole day, which is a bargain compared to her one-on-one consultation fee of $300/hour. Registration closes on Tuesday the 11th at 5pm. This enables Bonnie prep time based on who participates. Registration is here: http://selfmanagementforactors.com/tours/registration.html

For those SAG-AFTRA and/or AEA members not able to attend Bonnie’s seminar at my theater, the fabulous Patti Kalles will be doing a SAG Foundation sponsored CAP at her studio beginning at 9:30am. RSVP here at http://www.sagfoundation.org/userhome/eventdetails/9492

Help me get the word out and let’s show the industry how savvy and cool we NW actors are!

  1. How awesome! Thank you, Rik. So excited for our time together in Seattle. Thank you for bringing this together. We’ll have a blast and I’m excited to work with so many lovely actors in a market I’m visiting for the first time. 🙂 Yay! Let’s do this!
