2014 in review

The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2014 annual report for this blog.

Here’s an excerpt:

A San Francisco cable car holds 60 people. This blog was viewed about 1,200 times in 2014. If it were a cable car, it would take about 20 trips to carry that many people.

First Draft! “The Passion of the Bobby” by Christopher Bailey, Directed by Carissa Meisner Smit

Sunday, April 27 @7pm at Driftwood Players’ Wade James Theater located at

  • 950 Main St.
  • Edmonds, Washington 98020

Collaborate in the creative process of bringing a new play to life!

This is an opportunity for a playwright to see and hear what works in a newly completed, un-produced piece, and what does not. Actors present the play as a staged-reading. Afterwards, a moderated Q&A session and discussion with the dramatist and audience continues to explore the work. We hope you will plan to join us as we bring another exciting live arts experience to the Edmonds Community.

Admission is FREE

“The Passion of the Bobby” covers the final feverish months of Bobby Kennedy’s campaign for the president in 1968, from the April 4th murder of Martin Luther King, Jr., to his own shooting on June 5th. Through personal episodes, the play explores the issues he was confronting in his quest for the White House–from Vietnam to riots to racial discrimination–and, despite the tragic ending, offers hope that the impossible can still be accomplished.

Featuring: Terry Boyd, Dawn Cornell, Laura Crouch, Rik Deskin*, Jordan Fermstad, Cindy Giese French, Thomas Glass, Austin Gregory, James Lyle, Dan Niven, Gaelen Poage, John Ruoff, Asa Sholdez

Vote Rik Deskin 2013

Hello my fellow SAG-AFTRA Members that reside within the Seattle Local (Washington, Alaska, Montana and Idaho). Ballots are being sent out and are due back in by August 12, I believe. Every vote will count in this election. I’m running for re-election to the office of Vice-President, Actors/Performers. I’m asking for your vote.

Netflix, Hulu, Amazon, YouTube, VOD, Cable, TV are just some of the areas that we as SAG-AFTRA need to continue organizing. In 2013 we have digital cable channels that number in the hundreds. New Media continues to grow and platforms for distribution have accelerated. All while corporations continue to consolidate. I understand this and will continue to work toward organizing this work and protecting the wages and working conditions that we have gained.

Rik Deskin is Iago in Othello

Othello Poster

William Shakespeare’s tragedy of jealousy and revenge.

Previews are April 27, Sat at 8pm and April 28, Sun at 2pm.

The run of the show is Thu-Sat at 8pm and Sun at 2pm. May 2-26

Othello, a celebrated general, yet an outsider, defies social convention and marries Desdemona, a Venetian aristocrat. Enter Othello’s most trusted lieutenant, the honest Iago, who nurses a vengeful hate for his commander. As Iago draws Othello and the audience into a spider web of half-truths, scandal is fueled families and friendships destroyed until a trifle light as air tragically unravels them all.

With poetry rivaling King Lear and with the psychological depth of Hamlet, Shakespeare constructs a highly charged tale of prejudice, revenge, and the destruction of innocence.

Content Advisory: Suitable for teens and adults, Othello contains onstage violence and sexual innuendo. Concerned parents and theater-goers may want to contact the Box Office for more information.
